Miss Congeniality by Marie Garner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My first read from Ms. Garner and it was a pleasant surprise.
Brea Richards comes from a hard background. At 8 years old she knew life wasn’t supposed to be sneaking out of her house being led by her big brother across the field of drugs, used needles and bodies. She knew that she wanted out and would leave as soon as she could. She wanted to be a star and that’s what she became. One of the three “Misses” in the hit soap opera Maggie Beach, she’s nicknamed Miss Congeniality. Always going along with others, keeping her head down and moving as far away from her past as possible. She thinks she’s got it all figured out, then Lance Holder comes barging in her life and it will never be the same.
Lance Holder, bad boy extraordinaire has his own baggage to carry. Being named the lead male in the hit show Maggie Beach, he’s not looking for anyone to tame his ways, he just wants to provide for his family and keep his secrets hidden. His instant connection to Miss Congeniality is not something he saw happening.
The chemistry between Brea and Lance is explosive and who knows what will come out as they try to navigate a relationship in the spotlight of the paparazzi.
Wonderfully written, with an excellent plot that kept me guessing, this story was an awesome read. I loved the writing style, the supporting characters and the twists this story took. It was a great look in to the life of superstars and made you think about how it would be to live in the show business spotlight.
Love, sex, heart crushing disappointment, and drama this book had it all. A fantastic read that will keep you engaged and wanting more. Glad this is the 1st in the series, can’t wait to see what Ms. Garner has up next.
