It's all in the luck of the ball...

Quirky yet adorable, Wren Jamison couldn't make a good decision if her life depended on it. When poor choices forced Wren to question her judgment, fate—in the shape of a small black ball—stepped in and took over. That orb became her lifeline. Now, years later, every move she makes revolves around her Fortune Ball. Every. Single. Decision.

Kissing Logan Enders isn't a strange twist of fate—the ball tells her to do it. And she does. After all, the ball is never wrong. The sexy song-writing musician needs Wren to put her trust in him—not in the small screen of a children's game. But just like any modern woman, Wren might prefer the dependability of the toy over the uncertainty of a man. So who will win?

All signs point to...

My review of Dark Sexy Knight - Katy Regnery

Dark Sexy KnightDark Sexy Knight by Katy Regnery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Sexy Knight – Katy Regnery

Release Date: June 5, 2016

I love Katy’s books, all of them. They have such amazing story lines that are both familiar, and comforting while maintaining fresh, never been read qualities. This one is no different.

Colton Lang is looking for something more from life. Dealing with massive anger issues, he’s been on his own for a long time. Keeping his head down, caring for his cousin, Melody and working. He know his life is just ordinary.

Verity Gwynn is looking for something good to happen to her and her special needs brother, Ryan. Her string of bad luck has followed them everywhere. She wants desperately to provide a safe, solid home for them both to live.

Fate brings Colton and Verity together at their lowest times, solidifying a romance that is going to blossom and bring them each the HEA they deserve.

Capturing the reader from the first page, I found this book engrossing and consuming. I am not normally a big crier but I found my eyes leaking while I turned the pages. Not an epic sobbing but a quiet, emotional connection between the reader and the characters. Katy brings them to life in a way that anyone can relate to the scenes playing out on each page. Steamy sex scenes, pride and love fill the pages, until the very end. Then she seals the deal with the epilogue.

Truly amazing, this will be on my read again list when I need a pick me up, a bright spot of love and some hot sexy scenes.

I received this ARC for an honest review.

Riverbend Road (Haven Point) – June 21, 2016

Author: RaeAnne Thayne
Length: 386
Release Date: 06/21/16

Wyn Baily was born into the life of the police job she holds now. Her father and twin brother were both killed in the line of duty, her older brother is a sheriff in the next town over. Some would say it is in her genes to be on the force. She would agree, but lately she’s been restless and looking for something more from life.

Cade Emmett relies on Wyn more than he should as his best police officer. When she runs into a burning building, and he loses communications with her something changes in him… something he does not want to face.

In classic RaeAnne mode, we are drawn quickly to these real life characters and feel the emotions they feel. I could not put this book down. I kept going back to it over and over. I just had to see what was going to happen. The plot and the little twists that RaeAnne throws in captures your heart and your head. Amazingly written and engrossing, this is my favorite book in the series!

I can’t wait to see what comes next, but if it’s like this book, I need to clear my schedule, for an all-day read!

Casey Clipper's - Unexpected Love (The Love Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

Unexpected Love (Love, #2)Unexpected Love by Casey Clipper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unexpected Love (The Love Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

This second book in the Love Series by Casey Clipper was just as good as the first, maybe better.

In this book we follow Ryan Millen, Sean’s brother. He’s a love them and leave them guy, through and through. Adjusting to Sean and Beth’s new love is hard for him to take, but he knows he only wants one night stands and no commitment. Once again, what you want and what you get are sometimes 2 totally different things.

Lynn, trying to hold it together long enough to pay her bills, vowed to never rely on a man again, especially since her ex left her high and dry with no job, no money and all the bills. She turns to her brother Russ, who just happens to be the “mannie” to the head of the mob.

When Ryan ends up with a small situation and needs helping hands, Russ calls on his sister. She needs a job and Ryan desperately needs a level headed adult to help him through. Thrown together by fate, they are going to find out they really need each other.

Another home run by Casey! This series is starting to get darker and more involved in the mob aspect of the plot. I loved this story. The twists that Casey brings to her characters make them real and relatable.

Here is my review of Casey Clipper's book - Silent Love

Silent Love (The Love Series, #1)Silent Love by Casey Clipper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Silent Love: The Love Series - Book 1 Kindle Edition

I met Casey at a signing event in Pittsburgh this year, 2016. I haven’t read anything by her and decided to give this series a shot. First chapter – HOOKED.

This is a love story between Sean Millen and Beth Connors. Sean’s working himself to death to avoid any commitment in a relationship but really longs for true love. Beth is struggling to live every day, after suffering a huge loss four years ago. Will they be able to put the past behind them and find love with each other? You have to read this book to find out.

I loved it, loved it, loved it. The plot, the twist, the heat level… all amazing and the writing flows perfectly. Once you pick this up you will want to devour the entire series, just like I did! Casey’s characters were loveable, real and complex. She really pulls the reader in and I could not put this down until I turned the final page.

Review of Sara Zook's Six Guns Volume II

Six Guns Volume 2Six Guns Volume 2 by Sara V. Zook
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Six Guns Volume 2

Sara V. Zook

In this second in the series book by Sara Zook, we take a deeper look in to the life of Nicky Cain, former errand boy turned Mob boss after his father is murdered. Nicky is super surprised to learn that Carmine was his father and just choose to stay away following the wishes of Nicky's mother.

The deeper we dive into Nicky's world, the more we learn we don't know much about him and his girlfriend, Lilah. Taking over the mob from his father is tough. He has to be ruthless to show he can do the job, while hiding his true identity from Lilah. When one of "the triplets" is shot in a drop gone wrong, Lilah comes to grips with exactly who Nicky Cain is.

I love this series. It has everything you want in a book - suspense, angst, love, some sex and of course, an amazing plot. Following her first volume, you get twists and turns you don't see coming and an ending that has you wanting to know more. Excellent storytelling and plot have you reading this book in one sitting.

I can't wait to see what Sara does in volume 3.
I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.

The True Death: A Michele Shepard Story (The True Death Series Book 1) RK Gleason

The True Death - A Michele Shepard Story (The True Death Series, #1)The True Death - A Michele Shepard Story by R.K. Gleason
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The True Death: A Michele Shepard Story (The True Death Series Book 1)
RK Gleason
Ok, so here's my story - my BFF is an author. She comes to the Pittsburgh area for signings and I go as her PA. When we go to signings, I look through the authors and stalk them on Amazon to see what they write. I stumbled upon RK Gleason, looked at his reviews (cause that's how I roll) and saw all 5 and 4 stars. I'm thinking, "Ok, I can give this guy a try" - #oneclick the sample. I read it and was hooked, no pun intended.
The sample of this story was outstanding. I got to the end and thought "ok, I get to see him tomorrow, I can either download the book to my Kindle, or wait until I see him and get a signed book". I waited, met the author, told him the above story, had my photo op and went on my merry way, signed book and Polaroid photo in hand. :)
This story is quite fascinating. It's graphic, descriptive, reader grabbing prose, draws you into the world of Purgatory. An amazing place after death. You have 2 rules to follow and only 2 rules. You never die (unless you break rule 1 or 2), you can be hurt, but you recover, you can drink, smoke and otherwise be a glutton and never feel the effects. Following the 2 main characters, Horace and Michele, on their mission to save newcomers from breaking the rules, the reader is snared by the adventure, mystery and ultimate plot in Purgatory.
RK Gleason spins a tale so elaborate, the reader cannot help but get lost in this book. The characters are hilarious, snarky, personable and crafty. The story captures you and guides you through a world that comes to life as you read. Maybe not for the faint of heart, because of the detail Mr. Gleason provides in some areas of the book. Still an absolutely incredible read, that I will definitely put on my read again shelf!
I can officially say, I will be one clicking the entire series and look forward to more by this author.

A Review of Just Breath Again by Mia Villano

Just Breath Again by Mia Villano

Rating overview:
Story: 5
Publisher: Self
Author: Mia Villano
Length: (in pages) 186
Release Date: January 19, 2016

Jeannie Franklin has suffered the loss of her one true love. She never got to tell him goodbye. Killed in a motorcycle accident, he husband was her life, love and all the happiness she needed. Leaving her and her two children behind, Jeanie is devastated.

Finally accepting her future, she meets a man that makes her feel things she hasn't felt in years. But the ultimate act of faith comes when she finds out her oldest is sick. She needs to find her faith again, harbor it and make sure she believes, because this is going to push her to her limits.

I cried. I am not a crier but I cried. Like ugly, sobbing cry. Maybe it was "that time of the month", maybe it was being a mom with a sick child, maybe it was the writing and the story behind Mia Villano's Just Breath Again. Maybe it was all three. What I do know is this book was amazing.

In this epic read about Jeannie Franklin and all the losses she has to overcome, Ms. Villano weaves an emotional tale. Love, loss and the more sought after thing of all, happily ever after. A perfect combination for any reader of romance. I suggest you pick it up!
