~~~ REVIEW ~~~ Susan Stoker's Flaming Hearts Book 2 in her Beyond Reality Series
Flaming Hearts (Beyond Reality, #2)Flaming Hearts by Susan Stoker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wow, I never saw that coming, never saw it coming…
The second book in Susan Stoker’s Beyond Reality series did not disappoint. Following in the same reality show footsteps, this book was a little darker than her first. Perfectly written, this story will surprise you with the twists. Having such an awesome imagination and storytelling nature, this book captures your interest immediately.
Becky – A small town girl, who loves to watch reality shows with her mom, applies to participate in all of them and hopes her mom would be there to see her on TV. After the untimely passing of her mother, she’s actually picked to go on a show about 2 girls “fighting” for the affections of 14 guys. Seems like a great opportunity and Becky is thrilled to be on the show… until she’s actually on the show.
Dean – protective, gentle and sweet, is not looking for love. His dad always tells he and his brother about how they will find “the One” when they least expect it. When his brother, a cameraman for the show, expresses some concern for one of the stars, Dean’s protective personality creeps in. At Jonathon’s request, Dean goes to see what’s up with the show, but what he finds will change him forever.
With supporting characters that are true to life, fame hungry, greedy and catty to boot, a filming staff that pulls for the underdog and a producer that only cares about money, makes for a heart wrenching and emotional read. This story is fast moving, detailed and beautifully written. I found myself crying and laughing. Becky is a great female lead and truly has a beautiful personality. Dean is a perfect male counterpart for her. This story follows the motions of the show and how reality is not always real. The relationship between Dean and Becky blossoms from the first meeting until you close your book.
Unique and original, this book will hold a special place in my recommendations shelf. As sad as I was to see “The End”, I cannot wait for Jonathon’s story. It’s going to be another awesome ride.
